Streamers unfortunate after weeks without game
Result: Coldstream 1 Whitehill Welfare 2
Date: 23/01/2010

COLDSTREAM returned to league action on Saturday after a seven week break, and with a number of changes in the starting line-up they were up for the Home Park clash with Whitehill Welfare. The game started brightly with a number of strong challenges from both sides. New Streamers signing Mya and old favourite John Crawford both looked lively up front, but were well matched by the Whitehill defence. It was the visitors who were first to threaten with a piercing run from Calvey down the right leading to a shooting chance for Kidd, but he put it just over the Coldstream bar. Within a couple of minutes Whitehill had another chance when a through ball from Adamson was knocked down by Devlin into the path of Danny Taylor, but his shot too went narrowly over. At the other end visiting keeper Bejaoui had to look smart to get down and hold a Mya effort from the edge of the box. Both teams continued to look for an opening, and Whitehill had another chance in the 25th minute when Taylor latched on to a McGlashan freekick, but Walters in the Coldstream goal managed to get down to smother the shot.
Whitehill continued to press and a Lee free kick mid-way in the
Coldstream half was met by the head of Calvey, but Walters was equal to the effort and again denied the visitors. Whitehill did take the lead on 25 minutes, after Allum was brought down
by the Coldstream defence. The resulting free kick from 22-yards out saw Lee curl a shot goalward for the visitors, which was deflected past the already prone Walters to roll into the corner of the net. Whitehill could have double their lead two minutes later when they were awarded another free kick at the edge of the box, but Devlin's effort went harmlessly over the bar.
The home side's head's didn't drop and both teams continued to press up to the half time whistle.

Coldstream broke from a Whitehill corner early in the second half, but the shot caused Bejaoui no problems, going wide of his goal. Then it was end to end stuff with first Coldstream shooting narrowly over and Whitehill going straight up the park, forcing Walters to make a fine save. Both teams continued to work hard at breaking each other's defence; a Lee free kick fell to Allum on 67 minutes, but his shot was blocked. Five minutes later the visitors had another chance when Devlin picked the ball up at the halfway line, carving his way past three players and into the Coldstream box, but Kidd's looping effort was headed clear by a
back tracking Coldstream defender. This let-off spurred Mark Lamb's men on, and the Streamers pressed the visiting defence, but Whitehill kept their composure and managed to keep the attack at bay. Coldstream finally equalised in the 75th minute, winning the ball after a Whitehill midfield mix-up. The ball fell to Mya in the visitor's box, who opened his Streamers account, slotting home from 12 yards to bring the home side level. Whitehill however, snatched a winner in the closing minutes of the game. Bejaoui in the Whitehill goal sent a clearance down the right which was chased by McCormack, who managed to beat the Coldstream defence and send a low shot past Walters. Coldstream pressed for the equaliser as the referee's watch wound thematch down, but the visiting defence held strong. In a final effort, Coldstream attacked down the left, but the big Whitehill keeper dived at the feet of Mark Lamb's man, sending the ball spinning out for a 93rd minute corner. This was the Streamers' last chance to claw back a point, but the corner was over hit and easily marshalled to safety by the visitor's before the referee's whistle blew.
